Hold the lighter horizontally with hinges down.
Place your index finger on narrow side of the lid, middle finger on hinge and ring finger on 
narrow side of the case.
Break the lighter open by pushing your index- and middle finger down.
Rotate so the lighter is between your ring- and middle finger.
Strike with your thumb. 
Close anyway you like.
