Snuffy the Bastard Zippo trick:
Place your dominant hand in front of your face pointing up. 

Turn your hand bend your wrist 90 degrees, notice it only goes one way. 

Place the lighter right side up on your middle finger, hinge pointing away from your palm. 

Place your thumb on top of the lid, with your index finger gently cradling the reverse face of the lighter. 

Squeeze open with thumb, notice finishes play a large role on how you squeeze it open, this it what I have found: 
If your lighter has a mirror or polished slick finish then its best to put the pad of your thumb directly on top of the lid, 
then squeeze and allow it to quickly slip off the top and catch the face of the case. If you are using a sticky finish such 
as a copper or brass I find its best to hook the tip of your thumb of the edge of the lid and squeeze. 
If you are using a matte finish put your thumb at a place between the previous two; 
this will take a while to figure out and will take quite a toll on the pad of your thumb, 
but remember its all about technique. 

Alright, now you should be holding the lighter between your index finger and thumb, index on reverse face of the body, 
and thumb on the front face of the case, with the lid away from your palm. Now, using your thumb and index finger 
as a pivot let the lighter fall into your palm flint wheel first, the lid will stop in when the lighter case is exactly upside down. 
Flick the flint wheel with your middle finger. Flick your hand inward so that your index finger are being used as a pivot to 
spin the lighter back to an upright position. Another quick flick in the opposite direction closes the lighter. 
Note: If you can get the squeeze you've basically got the trick in the bag, its 9/10 of the battle.
